Performance of ICESat‐2 Precision Pointing Determination

چکیده
Global elevations are critical to understanding the Earth's dynamic processes and changing climate. These measurements best acquired from a space-based vantage point most accurate using laser altimetry technology. However, accuracy associated with elevation retrievals relies heavily on ability precisely determine pointing angle of beams satellite illuminated spot surface. The Ice, Cloud, land Elevation Satellite 2 (ICESat-2) has system consisting instruments that support determination direction through process called Precision Pointing Determination (PPD). In this paper, we describe PPD conceptual implementation, instrument details, data processing approach, calibration/validation techniques, performance assessment. We show successfully achieved allocated goal essential meeting ICESat-2 geolocation mission requirement.

We present Adaptive Pointing, a novel approach to addressing the common problem of accuracy when using absolute pointing devices for distant interaction. First, we discuss extensively some related work concerning the problem-domain of pointing accuracy when using absolute or relative pointing devices. As a result, we introduce a novel classification scheme to more clearly discriminate between d...
متن کاملModeless Pointing with Low-Precision Wrist Movements
Wrist movements are physically constrained and take place within a small range around the hand’s rest position. We explore pointing techniques that deal with the physical constraints of the wrist and extend the range of its input without making use of explicit mode-switching mechanisms. Taking into account elastic properties of the human joints, we investigate designs based on rate control. In ...

متن کاملPrecision determination of Vub
We review how to determine |Vub| from inclusive semileptonic B decay using combined cuts on the leptonic and hadronic invariant masses to eliminate the b → c background. This leads to a determination of |Vub| with theoretical uncertainty at the 5–10% level. LBNL-49079, UCSD/PTH 01-22, UTPT-01-13 The magnitude of Vub determines the length of one of the side of the unitarity triangle and is there...
متن کاملOn the equivalency of actual and nominal pointing precision
Pointing tasks in human computer interaction obey certain speed-accuracy tradeoff rules. In general, the more accurate the task to be accomplished, the longer it takes, and vice versa. Fitts’ law models the speedaccuracy tradeoff effect in pointing as imposed by the task parameters, through Fitts’ index of difficulty (Id) based on the ratio of the nominal movement distance and the size of the t...
